One Listen And You'll Be Hooked! Europe's "Keyboards" magazine held a studio monitor "shootout" between no less than 25 professional monitor systems, and ADAM's P11A active system came out the overall winner. ADAM monitors are set to make big waves in this country, and we're sure that once you hear them, you'll be just as impressed as the judges at Keyboards. The P11A is an excellent example of ADAM's no-compromise approach to Studio Monitor design. These are units for audio pros who demand the best possible sound reproduction. ADAM Audio P11A at a Glance:
Ideal for small to mid-size production studios The P11A is a two-way shielded active monitor that produces unique imaging and outstanding transient response at an attractive price point. It was primarily designed for small to mid-sized project studios; however, the P11A can also be used comfortably in any application where a small powered monitor is called for, from broadcast/post applications to surround monitoring. Folded ribbon tweeter delivers clean, uncolored highs ADAM's groundbreaking innovation in electro/acoustic transducers and dedicated design are found in the P11A and all ADAM monitors. Utilizing the same A.R.T. (Accelerated Ribbon Technology) folded ribbon tweeter found in all ADAM monitors, the P11A delivers clear highs, unique imaging and outstanding transient response at an affordable price. Low frequencies enhanced by unique equalization and Nomex cone driver By applying moderate equalization to the low end the P11A obtains almost an additional octave of bass response compared with a similarly sized passive system. The compact P11A comes with a 7.25" woofer reproducing frequencies down to 48 Hz. The built-in digital (PWM) 150W amplifiers are separately housed and exhibit excellent dynamic behavior due to their low output impedance, leading to an excellent damping factor. The P11A represents a new audio performance-oriented approach to digital amplification and combines excellent sound quality with cool operation. On the P11A's back panel additional controls for level and room EQs are offered. Accelerated Ribbon Technology explained The P11A utilizes the same A.R.T. (Accelerated Ribbon Technology) tweeters found in ADAM's high-end S3A and S6 monitors. These high frequency and midrange units take a completely new approach in kinematics to move air and improve the quality of music reproduction. Based on the original works of Dr. Oskar Heil, who invented his "Air Motion Transformer" back in 1972, new electroacoustic transducers have been developed that are based on improved layouts and new materials. The membrane consists of a lamella-like folded diaphragm whose single folds move according to the alternate current, thus squeezing air in and out. All other loudspeaker drive units, whether they are voice coil driven, electrostatics, piezos or magnetostatics, act like a piston, moving air in a 1:1 ratio. This is undesirable, as the specific weight of air is much lower than that of the driving mechanics. Speaking in terms of electrical engineering one could say there is a bad match between source and load. The A.R.T. principle achieves a 4:1 velocity transformation between driving diaphragm and driven air, meaning the air moves in and out four times faster than the folds itself are moving. This superior "motor" is responsible for the enormous clarity and transient reproduction that is to be heard from the P11A and all A.R.T. drive units. ADAM Audio P11A Features:
